I’m In CANNES!

After two cabs, three plane rides, and a lot of waiting around, I have made it to Cannes. It is 10:30 am here on Tuesday May 14th, and I’m ready to get started with a new day. My parents and I arrived yesterday morning (local time), took a cab to our hotel, and promptly fell asleep for about two hours. We got a chance to explore our surroundings and I am completely in love. It is like French text book came to life, except it is better.

The nature is beautiful, the food is incredible, and I absolutely adore the culture. I have used the little French I know from my first semester of the course at school (thank you dialogue assignments) and have been received with a warm welcome. We even ran into a fellow Texan, Morgan, who graduated from TCU and who comes from a family of Aggies. What are the odds? He is hilarious and so been so incredibly helpful as we’ve begun our journey.

My internship that I mentioned before in an earlier post has kind of imploded (more on that later), but my parents and I are working on creating a new plan. I am disappointed that the networking portion of my trip, which I originally came for didn’t go according to plan, but I really can’t complain. I am still in a beautiful country, and I am going to seize every opportunity.

Recently I’ve been learning how to use iMovie on my computer (side note I should’ve done this sooner) and compiled pictures of this past year. The past months have been nothing like I had anticipated. I went through some sad times, but putting together this video was a wonderful reminder that I gained so many good memories from this year as well. I am so thankful for my friends old and new, my family and my fantastic university, Texas A&M!

I found this about a week ago and it was just so perfect. I first “heard” music my freshman year of high school and quickly fell in love with it. These artists that found their way into my world let me know that someone else had been where I was, and that everything was going to fall into place. This feeling of hope that musicians gave me is why I began blogging and what I aspire to give to someone else through my words.

Hello my wonderful readers! I apologize for being MIA last week, it was finals week, which was kind of insane. My week consisted of a persistent lack of sleep , tons of notecards, more caffeine than is healthy, and unfortunately zero time for blogging. Oops. Another One Tree Hill quote. I may or may not be addicted to that show. I heard this quote on an episode I watched Monday evening and I had one of those strange moments when I realized that a show could put into words what I was feeling so much clearer than I could.

The past year has been nothing like I could have imagined. I’ve experienced grief, pain, and a loss that sometimes seems inescapable. I’ve felt worried, and sometimes lost. But the other day was different. I had such a wonderful day. The sun was shining, I witnessed one of the most adorable proposals for one of my sorority sisters, and dreams that I never thought could actually happen began to seem more concrete . For the first time that I can remember in a long time, I felt like weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I felt hopeful and I realized… I was happy.
